Richmond Marathon is the Friendliest Marathon,于是这个马拉松也就上了我的To-Run 单子 。

昨天到long island, 下了train之后拖着行李走了3,4 miles才check in.

Tempo
练习, 5K 当作练Interval, 10K & Half 练 Tempo, Full练 Long Run正好.

That has been taken into account. I'm pretty sure that my mile time is
between 5:20 and 5:30.
Of course, it may be a more reasonable comparison to consider the 5K
pace. Wanjiru's 5K pace is about 4:15. And yet he could run the first
mile of a marathon in 4:35, so 20 seconds per mile slower. My 5K pace is
6:02. If I add 30 seconds to that, 6:32, would be a moderate tempo pace
for me, and there is no way I would ever do that in a marathon, at my

Just make sure you get a couple long runs before Berlin. Forget about
intervals or mile repeats. You are way
too aggressive in the first 15 miles of your marathons. If your goal is 7:15
marathon pace, you shouldn't even
try to run 7:00, let alone 6:40 like you did previously. Building up a big
cushion in the first 20 miles isn't the
right strategy. Once you hit the wall, all the paces you have carefully
planned go out of the window. You would
be losing minutes, not just seconds. Your mindset sho

Jill Biden -
Yes... well note the specific wording: "runs five miles five days a week (
most recently in the Marine Corps Marathon)" I read that as she ran 5 miles
at the MCM, NOT the full 26.2 miles. So she maybe paced someone for 5 miles,
or maybe ran "bandit" for some of the distance.
It's funny... as a veteran of several marathons* myself, I'm amazed at t

to me even if bush does ultras everyday he is still an A$$.
of now that opinion is out there... This Marine Corp Marathon is funny
business. One of my friend is running it and he is not even American... So I
asked: Did you volunteer in the Marine Corp? The answer it seemed to be, it
is just another marathon in DC... no military credential requirement...

That is true, because your pace will fluctuate during the course of the
marathon. But just because you run 10
seconds per mile faster in the long run doesn't mean that you will race 10
seconds per mile faster in the
marathon. Most of us want to train as hard as we could, but there is the question of whether the body can
absorb rather than be damaged by the workout.

Born to Run mentioned that in the early 80s, a single amateur running club
in Boston had 6 sub 2:12
marathoners. How many active sub 2:12 marathoners are there in the US today?
Ryan, Meb, Sell, Ritzenhein,

Still can't find a good reason why do full if one can enjoy half marathon.
I guess I'm a bit too rational, but I want to save my ankles and knees for
years of running, at least till I'm well into 70s. I worry running too
long and hard would shorten my running life. When my doctor heard me
running, his comment was "half marathon probably has the best risk/benefit
ratio", maybe he is right.

5K is a common distance run by army soldiers, and I wouldn't be surprised if
many of them can go sub 20.
However, I'm not sure what percentage of Chinese or American soldiers can
run say a sub 3:20 marathon
(which arguably requires less athleticism than a sub 20 5K). If they don't
train specifically for the marathon, I
bet very few could do it.

when I ran my first marathon six years ago, BQ pace sounded ridiculous to me
. It would wear me out running
just two miles at that pace. I couldn't imagine what it would take to run a
marathon at that pace. It turned out
that all it took was six years of running.
