First half I felt pretty good. I met and shook hands with Endorphin Dude on
the Golden Gate Bridge. Yelled out 如花's name when running across him. He'
s ahead of me for sure. On my way back from the bridge I saw Jenny, and
shouted her name, I guess she didn't see me, but heard me. The great thing about
running SFM is that you would meet some familiar faces and friends on the
bridge.
More people ran first half than the full and 2nd half. 小龙 was pacing
4 hour group. The course was crowded especially with the pace groups. I was
ahead of the 4 hour group before taken over by them at around mile 15.
Between mile 18 & 19, a friend of mine caught up with me from behind. We ran
together for a mile, then I had to take walk break.
I felt my fuel tank exhausted after mile 20. I guess I didn't prepare well
for this race since I was bounded on bed last weekend from illness. Thanks
so much for a guy who encouraged me to pull it through in the last mile,
otherwise I would probably walked to the finish line. :) Yeah, the last 6
miles are purely mental. I kind of lost the mentality yesterday.
Glad that I got it done!
Never felt so hungry at the finish line. I gulped two bottles of Jamba Juice
, two scones, and a plum instantly. I just had two gels on the course, and I
refueled too late I guess.
The good thing about taking too many walk breaks at the last 6 mile was that
I didn't stress my legs too much. It served like a recovery run. I feel
much better today, and not much soreness left.
The funny thing is that 10:10 pace is about the same as my recent LHR
training pace. I guess you cannot cheat your body system. You reap what you
sow.
