必适合，Bioinformatics或Computational Biology还差不多。但问题这个专业本身美
国就少，而且太偏了，很不好找。
其实Fresh PhD in Statistics或Biostatistics通过一些实践也还是可以上手的，但招
人单位往往没有这个耐心，总想找现成的，所以经常是什么人都招不到。其实罗氏是个
大公司，完全可以先招一些Fresh，工资也低一些，以后就很顺手了。所以资深完全不
是一个必要条件。 |

背景：统计硕士，毕业后大学工作半年多，Funding is cut, position is gone. 期间
用OPT工作。此后找工两个半月至今，Failed 了两个 Onsite Interviews， 最近情况
Slow down，没有面试。 现在initial one year OPT只剩下70 多天, 急需解决身份问
题！Thanks for your help in advance!
方案1. 想办法Extend OPT for extra 17 months， 然后继续找工作.
有一亲戚在美国开公司， 可以办H1B，但不确定是否是E-verify company. 如果是，那
就可以办OPT延期 （但不想在那工作）。能否这样操作？ 有风险吗？

在marketing里面最大的问题是基本上整个部门都是类似于商科出身的白人，不懂统计
，从上到下都不太理解我们的function。当然也有一部分原因是因为自己的语言和沟通
能力不够。总之就是感觉和我之前在学校里面做biostatistics consultant很不一样。
这里做统计的处在一个很边缘的位置。在学校里面的计量中心biostatistics
consultant还是很受重视的，至少那些PI懂得你工作的价值。而且对于以后的发展也很
迷茫。大概两到三年可以到senior analyst，但是再往后的发展就不知道了。正如之前
提到的，中国人能够到的级别也就是经理，但是经理我不知道能不能当到50岁阿。。。
进non-profit工资低的问题基本上我不太介意。但我知道硕士肯定不够用，所以才有读
个phd的想法。只是今年已经28了，不知道是不是太晚。。。唉，总之，自己也很矛盾。
回答楼上同学的提问，面试的时候主要问了linear regression, anova, logistic

Kiz你说的这些的确是BI做reporting要用的，我们这里已经有10几个人在搞这个，我被
招进来肯定不是做reporting的。
我前几天跟另外一个部门的director谈了很久，他们那里需要很多statistical
analysis的东西，他也一直想找人做biostatistical analysis（特地强调要
biostatistics，当然我也是biostat出来的）。 他手头有好几个project都需要我去做
，都是完全是统计的东西，跟reporting没关系。 所以我要做的还是统计这一块。
而且公司结构这一块我也清楚一些了，合着我现在的director就是做BI reporting的，
但是他其实不suppose 领导我，我其实应该report给VP，但是我要做的东西的数据库都
是BI 在管，所以才把我放到他的部门。 但是公司里让我做的project其实不归他管的
，所以之前他跟我讲让我做什么也根本没讲清楚，他就比较focus在data 上，但是整个
项目他好像并没有那么了解。

情况既简单也复杂。分子生物PhD，期间转实验室生娃离婚，博后几年，对专业兴趣丧
失殆尽。主要还是单亲妈妈，钱途前途都堪忧，想竭尽全力给孩子最好的生活。
不打算再恋爱结婚，不想再和任何人建立亲密关系，所以，就拼自己。
年前刚申请了biostatistics的PhD，想想又要五六年才能熬出来，到时候40+，又有点
犹豫要不要转成master。
身边的读了统计或者生统的朋友们说，PhD比master职业发展前景好，薪水高。
我是应该速战速决，两年拿下master挣钱去呢？ 还是咬牙拼下PhD，谋求更好的发展呢？

谢谢大家，每一层我都仔细看了。我的标题没说清楚，已经改了－－是生物统计
biostatisics。
我秋季修了两门生物统计的课，大概就是本科到master水平的课，感觉比较感兴趣。
纯粹的数理统计我自认基础不够。纯粹的CS我完全无感。
我没有身份的顾虑，不想做faculty，只想进药厂公司政府部门。
