w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 3 The problem is that most people don't realize their running form is incorrect and their running shoes indulge their problems. I have two friends who are in good physical shape and have been working out for many years, and have consistently suffered from knee injury/lower back pains. Their problems were solved right away when they discovered barefoot running/five fingers. One of them is going to run his second marathon, in vibram five fingers, soon. |

4931 | 40 I feel that cumulus is just fine for forefoot strike. After all, I have gone
for more than 4 weeks of running
entirely on forefoot, more than 10 miles a day on average, with speed work,
and no injury until now. Also, the
previous time I had AT problem was from running in vibram five fingers. I
would not point the cause of the
injury to my shoes.

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 41 if you don't have barefoot running experience, start VERY slow and easy.
Even a 1-mile jog may prove to be
too much, initially. Even just walking in them will be a good exercise. Don'
t feel too good if there is no
soreness after the run -- your calf may start to feel sore only 48 hours
later. |
|
L********9 发帖数: 85 | 42 I have been running in them for two weeks now, in small mileages. I think I
got over the initial soreness, but I don't feel like I have the right gait
or posture. |
|
w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 43 It takes a while to adjust the form as well. How you can run also depends on
your relative muscle strength.
Generally you gotta slow down a little bit in five fingers/barefoot, and a
high cadence would help reduce the
stress on the foot. You want to land on your little toe and roll to the big
toe and the entire forefoot.

S*********9 发帖数: 471 | 44 WHXHM, can you share how long you have been running with forefoot landing,
and how long can you run with it?
I am asking because I tried to run with forefoot landing with regular shoe
or water shoe for about 2 weeks, I can run 4-6 miles with forefoot landing
in very slow pace, and the calf felt sore for 3 days.

w****1 发帖数: 4931 | 46 I first started doing forefoot in and only in five fingers in August of 2009
. It was a desperate measure after
battling a knee injury (inflammation of quadricep tendon) for weeks. At the
time I did a little bit of running
in five fingers, no more than 5 miles, to adjust my running form. When I put
my regular running shoes back
on, I go back to heel strike.
I made a real attempt to switch to forefoot strike in November of 2009,
because my shin splints got really

From my experience, although i thought i have been doing midfoot strikes,

I am still a heel-striker. From what you said, I now realize that the
transition will be long and painful.:)

have you seen these:
"Abebe Bikila was the first black African in history to win a gold medal in
the Olympics, actually he won the olympic marathon twice consecutively.
He won the 1960 Olympic marathon barefoot in record time 2:15:16. In 2010,
the new Vibram Five Finger model was named after him.
Five weeks before 1964 Olympic marathon, he had an appendicitis surgery.
Shortly thereafter, he started jogging in the hospital courtyard at night.
He finished the marathon in a new record |
